It was still two years ago when I was dreaming to become a geneticist and discover how to cure Down Syndrome (chromosome 21 disorder), and most importantly to open a charity clinic in Armenia, where they would be engaged in medical genetics and treatment of people having Down syndrome. I have had that dream since the day I visited the Center of Genetics in Armenia. But the conditions in Armenia aren’t sufficient enough to get appropriate knowledge in this field as we don’t have the necessary equipment and well-qualified staff to transfer deep knowledge.
So, let’s imagine that I have already owned my first million and have managed it on my own initiative. How did I do it?
I preferred to continue my education in the USA as my future specialty is quite developed. I spent nearly 100.000$ to cover the tuition fees for studying at Harvard University during the first year. When I was a second year student they gave me a scholarship for my exceptionally high academic records, and so I didn't have to pay any tuition fees until I got my degree.
After graduating from the university I began thinking about my private genetics center in the USA. I wanted my investment to be both profitable and humanistic. Nearly 800.000$ was spent on the construction of the center. Thanks to the qualified workmen, the constructing engineer and my proper control over the site the building of the center was ready three years later. Now the center is equipped with modern medical technology and equipment. The US Government is interested in having highly qualified public medical care so they supported me with this matter according to one program. The medical staff in my center is formed with the best specialists. I also had to make some investments for that purpose. My trusted colleagues and I prepared tests for the exams to check the knowledge of our future employees. I provided 30.000$ for my employees' salaries.
Our newly opened center needed an advertisement so that people would be informed about its existence. That question was settled down by an AD's agency. It cost 20.000$. I have nearly spent all my initial million for the last years. But number of the customers increased and we began to have a stable income. Several years passed. My center has become quite famous. Some of our geneticists are engaged in discovering the right method of Down syndrome treatment. I hope that some day we will be a success. Thousands of people turn to our center for treatment. The staff get proper salaries. I also get a fixed salary because our income is not for me to spend aimlessly.
I haven't forgotten about my main aim. That is to establish a charity Down syndrome clinics in Armenia. There is only one genetics center in Armenia. The level of its service is suspicious but the prices for investigation and analyses is very high. Taking into account the average salary, the amount of pension and the poverty rate (officially 30%) in Armenia, it is clear that very few people can turn to that center for their service. But do so few people really need this service? Studies show that heredity cn be the basis of most incredible illnesses. Even the disorder of one molecule part of DNA can result in numerous physiological deviations. So I decided to establish a charity clinics in Armenia at the expense of our income. After three years the charity clinics was ready. The whole income of my center covers the expenses of the clinics in Armenia. I have a salary which is enough for living. My private expenses don’t exceed my salary.
In this way I made my dream come true. Now I am not so much worried about the good health of my compatriots.
